Discipleship

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." —Matthew 28:18–20

Discipleship is a word that puts some people off—Christians and non-Christians alike—but it shouldn't.  Put simply, a disciple is one who follows.  Webster's (www.m-w.com) defines a disciple in the following way:

1: one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another: as
a: one of the twelve in the inner circle of Christ's followers according to the
               Gospel accounts
b: a convinced adherent of a school or individual

Think of each of your relationships...with God, with yourself, with others...are you growing in each?  A disciple of Jesus Christ should grow in all these relationships.  The dynamics (at times) are complex, but our growth basically occurs upward, inward, and outward.  With growth, nothing happens in a vacuum...as you grow in one area, others are affected.  Obviously, when people are involved additional dynamics are in the mix.

The goal for this page is to provide Christian disciples with resources to better know God and to do His will...which should make us better followers.  (Hopefully, it's obvious that all this extends into knowing yourself and better relating to others as well.)  If you have suggestions for the content of this page (i.e., links to anything spiritual, books you've read, or other helpful stuff you think of), please e-mail me at son@bbc.net.
